How to Avoid a Bad Haircut When Traveling

Thanks to our readers for asking for more information on travel tips. We thought we would start capturing some of our ‘wow, this is such a great idea!’ travel tip epiphanies in this new section. We plan to post every Tuesday, share on Facebook and Twitter and include in our weekly newsletter.

Our first tip is about vanity and practicality.

It will save you angst, and it may even save you money.

Ever get your haircut from someone who doesn’t normally cut your hair? Let alone in a different country in an unfamiliar language from your own?

Well, we have an easy tip. Take a picture on your phone of your favorite haircut and save it.
Share it with the unknown barber or hairdresser on your next cut.

Even if your haircut discussion is in the same language, you may have a different perspective on what short or a little off the top is!

I’ve had many successful haircuts since I’ve used my picture in Laos, Nicaragua and Panama.

The same approach applies to hair color. Dorene brings in a picture  with the hair color/highlights the way she likes. It helps anyone visually the difference between what copper vs. blonde.

Hope this helps you avoid any haircut mishaps!
